The National Basketball Association, or the NBA has announced “dynamic” NBA NFTs that will evolve based on players’ performance.
A collection of 18,000 NFTs were announced by the Association on Wednesday. These digital assets will be minted in Ethereum, and will uniquely reflect the athlete’s performance on the court. There will be 75 NFTs of each player from the 16 separate basketball teams participating. These NFTs will represent actual players and will have dynamic characteristics.
When we say “dynamic”, it means that the NFT frames would not remain static. These will develop along with an NBA player’s performance relating to the number of dunks, rebounds, blocks, assists etc. and will also impact the NFT backgrounds.
The NBA also states that even though these NFTs will be free to mint, collectors need to pay in Ethereum to be able to acquire these unique tokens. The holders of NBA Top Shot NFTs will have some of these non-fungible tokens reserved for them, as the NFT art will be shared on Friday, at token marketplaces such as OpenSea.
A twitter account, “NBAxNFT” unveiled this unique NFT collection today with this tweet. There has been increasing hype regarding these tokens as the NBA had filed for a related trademark earlier this month.

With an impressive trading volume in the first quarter of 2022, the NFT marketplace is sure to boom even more with the surge of several sports trying to forge their entry into crypto trading. There have been introductions to NFT games and fantasy sports previously, as various high-profile companies present their own non-fungible tokens for investors and collectors alike. Despite collection of these NBA tokens being limited to just one per wallet, we can imagine basketball fans to swarm the NFT marketplaces after presale minting begins.
