Pico Interactive, a VR hardware and software developer company, has said it will be making a “special announcement” this week. The news is to be revealed by the company at the Laval Virtual Europe conference on the 13th of April.

There have been talks that Pico may announce the launch of another version of its Neo 3 VR headset. The product, currently only sold in Asia, has chances of being released in the West too. Pico previously released popular VR products like Neo 3 Pro Eye, G2 4K etc. The Pro Eye is currently being sold in the US and Europe, and features an enterprise version of the product.

It is possible there may also be news on future upgrades for the previous models. Pico’s VR headsets feature Fresnel lenses, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2. They also have Inside-Out 6DoF tracking with two 6DoF motion controllers. Very similar to the specifications of the Meta Quest 2, fans are waiting eagerly to see what surprises the company has in store for them this week.

After being acquired by Chinese multinational company, ByteDance Ltd, last year – buzz on the town is that Pico will soon be working on expanding their business to other global markets. ByteDance had also announced last month that it will be working on the development of XR headsets, in a new partnership with Qualcomm. Although it is still quite early to say how much of an impact this fast-growing company will make in the VR industry, it certainly does have a lot of potential now that virtual reality platforms are practically booming. With the expansion of the Metaverse and other such ‘verse-s’, it will definitely be a treat to see Meta competing against other VR manufacturers globally.

Tune in to stream Pico’s new announcement, to go live at 1:05 pm GMT and 3:05 pm CET on April 13th.
